Caitlin’s Environmental Advocacy Expands Through Structured Local Action
Caitlin, 2026 Miss Lone Star Jr High School America, began her involvement in pageantry three years ago after entering a competition with limited preparation and a wardrobe assembled within five days.
Since then, she has used her title to support environmental advocacy efforts focused on litter reduction, youth engagement, and community-based cleanup initiatives across Texas and at the national level.
“No one wanted to take a 12 year seriously about the environment at first,” she said. “But as time went on my credibility and reach grew.”
Establishing Partnerships and Measurable Advocacy Work
Caitlin currently serves as a National Ambassador for National Clean Up Day and collaborates with Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful. She also holds a position as a local youth representative and state delegate within Keep Texas Beautiful.
Her work includes organizing quarterly cleanup events through an adopted roadway in her city. These events are scheduled in advance and involve volunteers who participate in removing litter and maintaining the area.
In addition to cleanup events, she conducts environmental education through presentations and organized outreach efforts. These presentations focus on litter prevention, environmental responsibility, and community participation.
She cites a consistent data point when discussing the issue.
“Our litter problem is real. Every mile of highway has over 7000 pieces of litter,” she said. “We all need to take responsibility and be the solution to the pollution.”
Her involvement with Keep America Beautiful includes participation in collaborative initiatives and alignment with national environmental campaigns. Through Keep Texas Beautiful, she engages in statewide programs and youth representation efforts.
Development of Eco Squad and National Outreach
Caitlin operates a youth-focused initiative called Eco Squad. The program is designed to recruit participants, organize local cleanup efforts, and provide environmental education resources.
The initiative is supported through her website, caitlinsecosquad.com, which serves as a central platform for information, recruitment, and communication. Visitors can access details about joining Eco Squad, participating in cleanup efforts, and learning about environmental topics.
“I recruit new Ecosquads, do education, and all kinds of fun stuff there,” she said.
Eco Squad allows participants to form local groups and replicate cleanup efforts within their own communities. The structure includes event organization, volunteer coordination, and ongoing engagement through both in-person and digital formats.
Her platform also incorporates the B.R.A.V.E. initiative from the Miss High School America organization. This integration is included in both events and presentations, combining environmental topics with youth-focused leadership activities.
“It has also been seamless to integrate the Miss High School America national platform B.R.A.V.E with all my work,” she said.
Ongoing Schedule and Upcoming Initiatives
Caitlin manages her environmental work alongside academic responsibilities and extracurricular activities, including sports, church, and pageantry.
She uses written planning methods to organize her schedule and track responsibilities.
“I am a list maker. I also have on my list for quiet reading time and self care,” she said.
Her schedule includes recurring cleanup events, ongoing outreach through Eco Squad, and participation in state and national environmental programs.
Upcoming activities include competing for Miss Jr High America in Little Rock, attending the Keep Texas Beautiful convention, and leading a national campaign in September for National Clean Up Day.
These efforts are coordinated with her existing partnerships and ongoing platform initiatives.
“Passion inspires others to take action,” she said.
Caitlin, 2026 Miss Lone Star Jr High School America, continues to organize environmental initiatives through local, state, and national partnerships while expanding participation through Eco Squad.
“Be the voice not the echo.”
